What happens when a lift stops moving?

It repeats the week first, then takes the load down and builds back through it, and if the lift is still stuck after three weeks it offers you a different movement instead of a fourth identical week.

A lift that comes up short of its reps does not get more weight, and it does not get quietly dropped either. There is a sequence, and every step of it is printed beside the week it happens in.

The first answer is the same week again. You were asked for a number of reps and did not reach it, so the prescription stands and you get another go at finishing it before anything is added.

That is eight weeks of one lift that never finished its reps. When the repeat has been tried and missed as well, the load comes down rather than up, and it lands on a weight the bar can actually be made to hold rather than on the arithmetic. Then it builds back through the same range.

And if it is still stuck

After three weeks at a load that has not moved, the lift is offered for a swap, and it is offered again every week it stays stuck. That is an offer rather than a substitution: the movement is yours to keep if you want it, and the point of raising it is that a fourth identical week is not a plan, it is a lift nobody has looked at.
