Almost everybody meets the same wall. The first two months the weight goes up nearly every week, and then one lift stops. You keep showing up, the number does not change, and the obvious conclusion is that you are not trying hard enough.
Usually you are trying too hard, at the wrong thing. Here is what it looks like from the engine's side.
What a stall actually looks like
This is the real engine run against a lifter who reaches for the top of the range every week, comes up two reps short, and reports the effort the lift was asked for. Nothing here was written by hand.

Notice how long nothing happens. The load does not go up, because the range was not finished and there is nothing to reward, and it does not come down either, because the reps that were finished were real. The engine repeats the week and says why.
Then, after three trained weeks with the load standing still, it stops repeating itself and takes about 10% off the bar, snapped down to a weight your gym can actually make. That is a reset, and it is the first thing a good coach does: a lighter bar that moves properly is worth more than a heavy one that does not, and you climb back through it over the next few weeks.
When the effort is the problem, not the load
That run is a lift the engine cannot move. This is the same lifter, the same two reps short, reporting an effort ABOVE what the lift is asked for. Accessories and working sets are asked for 8, one top set is asked for 9, and anything above that is a week that ran past the plan rather than a week that failed it.

Nothing waits three weeks here. Two trained weeks over the line and the rest between sets goes up by 60 seconds, at the same weight and the same reps. Two more and the rep target itself comes down a rung, still at the same weight. The bar never moves, and the lift never reaches the reset, because a prescription that is changing is not a prescription that is stuck.
The order is deliberate and it is not skippable: rest first, then one rep short, then anything else. Under-resting looks exactly like too much weight, and taking the weight off first would treat the symptom and cost you the load you spent two months earning.
A stall is information, not a verdict.
The four things worth checking first
Is the range actually finished?
This is the commonest one by a distance. Getting eight of the ten prescribed reps every week feels like a plateau and reads to the engine as an unfinished set, because that is what it is. Take the load down one step, finish the range twice, and the ladder starts moving again from a rung you can stand on.
Has the range quietly got shorter?
Squats that stop a little higher, presses that stop a little further from the chest, pull-ups that stop a little short at the bottom. The weight looks the same on paper and the exercise is not the same exercise. Film one set from the side and compare it with a set from a month ago.
Are you sleeping and eating like somebody who is training?
Nothing in a training plan compensates for a week of bad sleep and a deficit you did not choose. Be careful how much you blame it for, though: pooled across sixty-nine studies, losing sleep cost about seven and a half per cent of performance overall and under three per cent on strength tasks, and only a whole night missed did it consistently1. That is too small to explain one stalled lift and quite large enough to sit under a week where everything felt heavy. If the effort you are reporting has been creeping up across every lift rather than this one, the answer is not in the plan.
How long has it been, honestly?
Two flat weeks is noise. Everybody has a bad Monday. Reckoner does not act on one, and neither should you: it waits until the load has stood still for three trained weeks before it says anything, because acting on noise is how a plan gets churned into uselessness.
Why the answer is a different movement
Most stalls break at the reset. The lift that stalls again on the way back up is the one that has genuinely run out of road, and more of it is the one thing that will not help. A swap keeps the pattern and changes the lever, which is usually enough to start the ladder again from somewhere your body has not spent a month getting stuck at.
Reckoner keeps the swap in the same lane, so your history stitches into one line rather than starting again. A bench press that becomes a dumbbell press is still that slot's story, and the chart does not lose the four months in front of the stall.
The one thing it will not do is quietly pick a different movement for you. It offers, you decide, and if you would rather have another week of the same then the engine gives you another week of the same and stops asking.
